Monica Bansal
Volunteer

Monica began volunteering at Sitar Arts Center in fall 2009, but began sewing in high school when she uncovered her mother's old sewing machine, "borrowed" some of her old clothes, and started experimenting. She continued sewing throughout college while she earned a degree in environmental science and policy from the University of Virginia and made a few furry Halloween costumes while earning a master's in urban planning from Columbia University. She now tries to make cities, like Washington DC, more livable and sustainable. Monica also spends her time drawing, doing yoga, running, hiking, and thinking about using her camera collection for something other than decoration.
