Sitar Arts Center Presents the International Online Art Collective’s “Chain Reaction” Exhibit

WASHINGTON, May 9, 2024 — Sitar Arts Center is pleased to welcome to its Cafritz Gallery ”Chain Reaction,” a captivating 100-piece art exhibit by the 14-member International Online Art Collective (IOAC). On Friday, May 24, 2024, Sitar is hosting a free community art event, followed by an opening reception. The public is invited to meet IOAC artists and participate in a hands-on activity where guests of all ages can collaborate on a piece of art inspired by the “Chain Reaction” theme. The community art event starts at 5:00 p.m., and the opening reception begins at 7:00 p.m.

Founded in the spring of 2020, IOAC artists reside in eight different countries. Two years in the making, “Chain Reaction” is the collective’s most ambitious project yet. Starting with just one piece, a chain of artwork inspired by each other culminated in 100 pieces assembled into one multi-media installation.

For more than two decades, Sitar Arts Center has offered high-quality and accessible arts education to children, teens, and young adults from every Ward of Washington, DC. Fostering a creative community of learning and belonging, Sitar Arts Center removes financial and cultural barriers to arts education and career training and believes everyone should have access to quality arts education. Through its Cafritz Gallery, Sitar aims to educate the community about the visual arts and provide a welcoming environment where all can explore and connect with the power of art. Operating for more than 15 years, the Cafritz Gallery is an intimate space that exhibits a variety of mediums and styles of 2D and 3D work.

Operating entirely online until recently, as their name implies, the International Online Art Collective is now embarking on a series of live exhibitions around the world. This global tour will finally bring the members together in person. “Art transcends boundaries, and our upcoming show in DC embodies the vibrant tapestry of global creativity,” says Caroline Karp, IOAC founding member and artist. “Join the International Online Artist Collective as we showcase our “Chain Reaction” project for its second stop on its world tour. Together, let’s celebrate the power of art to unite and inspire.”

“Chain Reaction” will be on display at Sitar Arts Center’s Cafritz Gallery through June 22, 2024, located at 1700 Kalorama Road NW, Suite 101, Washington, DC. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, from noon – 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays, from 10:00 a.m. – noon.
