Our Mission in Action

Celebrate with us as we reflect on 2023 and how we put our mission to action! Driven by our Strategic Plan vision and goals, we expanded our reach, propelled young minds through creative programs, and witnessed their inspired development. Read on to explore the full impact report!
More children and youth, more arts, more impact! By 2027, we aim to grow our impact toward our mission by expanding enrollment in our youth arts programs, adding exciting artistic opportunities, and filling gaps in affordable out-of-school time programs for all in Washington, DC.
In 2023, Sitar provided quality arts education to:
258 youth, ages 0-24, in Early Childhood Arts & Arts Afterschool
150 youth, ages 6-14, in Camp Sitar
58 teens, ages 14-19, Sitar’s Emerging Arts Leaders & Bloomberg Arts Internship
16 apprentices, ages 18-24, through ArtsAdvance: Career Studios (New Program)
Our Student Body
In 2023, Sitar’s diverse community came together to make our programs and impact possible:
Between rising costs of living and inflation, many families with lower incomes need affordable out-of-school-time care and workforce development opportunities to support a strong financial footing. At Sitar, we remove financial and cultural barriers to out-of-school time care through our equity-centered, income-based sliding-fee-scale tuition and ensuring 80% of our students are from families at 60% or less of the area median income.
