Sitar Arts Center advances the critical life skills of underserved children and youth and prepares them for achievement in the 21st century through visual, performing and digital arts education in a nurturing community. Programs at Sitar Arts Center are a vital and essential part of transforming the lives of children and youth in Washington, DC. More than 850 children and youth from every ward in the city are enrolled at the Center each year. For these children and youth, Sitar Arts Center is their artistic home—filled with positive mentors, engaging 21st century learning opportunities, and genuine community. In recognition of Sitar Arts Center’s unwavering commitment, the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities recognized Sitar with the prestigious National Arts and Humanities Youth Programs Award distinguishing the Center as one of the premier afterschool arts and humanities organizations serving youth in the nation. In 2015, Sitar Arts Center was recognized with The Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management. More than 80% of the Center’s school-aged students are from a low-income household. Sitar Arts Center relies on charitable contributions to ensure that no family is ever turned away because of an inability to pay. With each and every generous contribution, Sitar Arts Center is able to bridge the opportunity gap and provide young people in our community with the opportunity to discover and develop their gifts and talents in a safe and nurturing place. Thank you for supporting Sitar Arts Center. |
