Grant Award from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Confers A National Level of Distinction for Sitar’s Programs
Sitar Arts Center is one of only 113 organizations nationwide to receive grant funding from the NEA as part of the Art Works: Arts Education Discipline grant competition.
“Support from the NEA validates Sitar Arts Center’s mission on a national level. It affirms that Sitar meets the highest standards of excellence, develops lifelong learners through the arts, and strengthens the very fabric of our community life in Washington, DC. NEA funding is both essential and impactful. More than 90% of the Center’s revenue is from charitable giving and every dollar of support from individuals and institutions brings vital learning opportunities to underserved children and youth at Sitar Arts Center each and every day.” – David DeSantis, Sitar Arts Center’s Board President
Art Works is the NEA’s largest category and competition for NEA grants is significant. In this second funding round for FY2017, the agency received 2,063 eligible applications across all funding categories.
