Set in DC Film Festival
Calling All Young Filmmakers!
Sitar Arts Center is excited to present its 2025 Set in DC Film Festival, “Love in All Its Forms.”
What does love mean to you? We invite films that explore love beyond the romantic – whether it’s love for friends, family, community, nature, or any other connection that inspires you.
Don’t miss the opportunity to showcase your work on the big screen at Sitar Arts Center in Washington, D.C.!
WHO IS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE:
- Youth filmmakers in the DMV between the ages of 10-24 years old.
CRITERIA:
- Open to filmmakers ages 10-24 located in DMV
- Films must be no longer than 25 minutes
- Films must be set in Washington, D.C.
- Film subject matter and content must be appropriate for a community of ALL ages (PG)
- Submission deadline is Monday, April 21, 2025
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR FILM:
- Sitar Arts Center proudly accepts entries on FilmFreeway, the world’s #1 way to enter film festivals and creative contests.
- Filmmakers under 18 must obtain written parental/guardian consent for submission and participation.
Submission deadline is Monday, April 21, 2025
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- All films will be peer reviewed by an initial jury of Sitar’s Emerging Arts Leaders to determine entry into the festival.
- Once reviewed, all films will be judged by professional filmmakers and critics.
- Films will be judged based on adherence to submission criteria, originality, and storytelling.
- Filmmakers will be notified of acceptance by April 30, 2025.

FILM FESTIVAL:
Films will be shown on May 9, 2025, at Sitar Arts Center at 1700 Kalorama Rd NW, STE 101 Washington, DC 20009, from 6-8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. All accepted filmmakers and their families are encouraged to attend.
FILM FESTIVAL ADDITIONAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Film Content: Sitar Arts Center reserves the right to exclude any film that contains inappropriate content harmful to children under 18. Inappropriate content includes, but is not limited to, profanity, violence, sexual content, or any content deemed harmful to minors.
- Film Usage: Filmmakers retain ownership rights to their films. Sitar does not claim ownership of submitted films. Sitar Arts Center is granted the right to use submitted films solely for the following purposes: Promotion of the Film Festival (pre- and post-festival); screening the films during the festival on May 9, 2025; educational purposes related to the festival (e.g., workshops, student outreach programs). Sitar Arts Center will not use any films for commercial purposes without explicit written consent from the filmmaker(s). The aforementioned usage rights are granted for a period of one year following the festival.
- Filmmaker Information: Filmmakers grant Sitar Arts Center permission to use information (e.g., name, bio) submitted with the entry form in festival promotional materials and programs.
- Publicity Rights: Filmmakers may use Sitar Arts Center invitation and promotional materials to promote their film’s participation in the festival, provided Sitar Arts Center is properly credited. Any edits or alterations to Sitar Arts Center’s promotional materials require written approval.
Sitar Arts Center reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.

QUIÉN ESTÁ INVITADO A PARTICIPAR
Jóvenes cineastas del DMV con edades comprendidas entre los 10 y los 24 años.

Abierto a cineastas de entre 10 y 24 años residentes en el DMV
Las películas no deben durar más de 25 minutos
Las películas deben estar ambientadas en Washington, D.C.
El tema y el contenido de la película deben ser apropiados para una comunidad de TODAS las edades (PG)
El plazo de presentación finaliza el lunes 21 de abril de 2025.
CÓMO PRESENTAR SU PELÍCULA:
El Centro Artístico Sitar se enorgullece de aceptar inscripciones en FilmFreeway, la forma número 1 del mundo para participar en festivales de cine y concursos creativos.
Los cineastas menores de 18 años deben obtener el consentimiento por escrito de sus padres o tutores para la presentación y participación.
El plazo de presentación finaliza el lunes 21 de abril de 2025
CRITERIOS DE SELECCIÓN:
Todas las películas serán revisadas por un jurado inicial de Líderes Emergentes de las Artes de Sitar para determinar su entrada en el festival.
Una vez revisadas, todas las películas serán juzgadas por cineastas y críticos profesionales.
Las películas se valorarán según los criterios de presentación, la originalidad y la narración.
Los cineastas recibirán una notificación de aceptación antes del 30 de abril de 2025.

FESTIVAL DE CINE:
Las películas se proyectarán el 9 de mayo de 2025 en Sitar Arts Center, 1700 Kalorama Rd NW, STE 101 Washington, DC 20009, de 6 a 8 p.m. Se servirán refrescos ligeros. Se anima a asistir a todos los cineastas aceptados y a sus familias.
CONDICIONES ADICIONALES DEL FESTIVAL DE CINE
- Contenido de las películas: Sitar Arts Center se reserva el derecho de excluir cualquier película que contenga contenidos inapropiados y perjudiciales para los menores de 18 años. Los contenidos inapropiados incluyen, entre otros, blasfemias, violencia, contenido sexual o cualquier contenido considerado perjudicial para los menores. Los cineastas son responsables de obtener los derechos necesarios para cualquier música, efectos de sonido u otro material protegido por derechos de autor que se utilice en sus películas
- Uso de las películas: Los cineastas conservan los derechos de propiedad de sus películas. Sitar no reclama la propiedad de las películas presentadas. Se concede al Sitar Arts Center el derecho a utilizar las películas presentadas únicamente para los siguientes fines: Promoción del Festival de Cine (antes y después del festival); proyección de las películas durante el festival el 9 de mayo de 2025; fines educativos relacionados con el festival (por ejemplo, talleres, programas de divulgación para estudiantes). El Centro Artístico Sitar no utilizará ninguna película con fines comerciales sin el consentimiento explícito y por escrito del realizador o realizadores. Los derechos de uso mencionados se conceden por un periodo de un año tras el festival.
- Información sobre el cineasta: Los cineastas autorizan al Sitar Arts Center a utilizar la información (por ejemplo, nombre, biografía) enviada con el formulario de inscripción en los materiales promocionales y programas del festival.
- Derechos de publicidad: Los cineastas podrán utilizar la invitación y los materiales promocionales del Sitar Arts Center para promocionar la participación de su película en el festival, siempre que se cite debidamente al Sitar Arts Center. Cualquier edición o alteración de los materiales promocionales del Sitar Arts Center requerirá la aprobación por escrito.
Sitar Arts Center se reserva el derecho a modificar estas condiciones en cualquier momento.
