Mission: Sitar Arts Center offers possibilities that transform the lives of children and teens born into a world of unequal access to opportunity. Our vision for Washington, DC is a city where families across the cultural, economic, and racial spectrums can live and thrive and a city that fervently believes that high quality arts education and transformative arts experiences for all are essential.
In recognition of Sitar Arts Center’s unwavering commitment, the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities recognized Sitar with the prestigious National Arts and Humanities Youth Programs Award distinguishing the Center as one of the premier afterschool arts and humanities organizations serving youth in the nation. In 2015, Sitar Arts Center was recognized with The Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management. More than 80% of the Center’s school-aged students are from a low-income household. Sitar Arts Center relies on charitable contributions to ensure that no family is ever turned away because of an inability to pay. With each and every generous contribution, Sitar Arts Center is able to bridge the opportunity gap and provide young people in our city with the opportunity to discover their gifts and develop 21st century life skills within the Center’s safe and nurturing community. Thank you for supporting Sitar Arts Center. |
